SILENCE IS GOLDEN

by Marsha Burns

Small Straws: Be still, watch and discern. This is a moment of silence before you take the next step. Take this time to renew your confidence in Me. Restate your faith and re-establish yourself in kingdom covenant. It is important that your spiritual foundation is firm and clearly defined so that you know without a shadow of doubt who you are and who I Am, says the Lord. Set yourself to be strong and resolute. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Psalms 4:4 Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah

Very often when I encounter someone who tends to be quiet or reserved, if I will shut up and wait they will begin to speak. And, sometimes it is some fresh water from a deep well! My silence seems to create a vacuum or vacancy that they can fill.

I’ve encountered an interesting spiritual silence that seems to be in the Spirit for me to press into. And, it’s not there for me to fill up with worldly thoughts or to cram full of worries or fears.

I believe it is an invitation from the Lord to come before Him and meditate on His Word:
1. Renew confidence in Him
2. Re-state your faith
3. Re-establish covenant
4. Re-define spiritual foundation
5. Know who you are in Him
6. Know Who He is

God Himself has created a place of silence or a vacuum for us to fill with fresh confidence, faith, and relationship with Him. This silence is a golden moment, a God-filled moment that we must not squander.

Zechariah 2:13 "Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!"

Psalms 65:5 By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas.

Proverbs 3:26 For the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.

So, this silence is to refresh ourselves in renewed confidence in the Lord – confidence that He is our very present help in trouble; that He will never leave us nor forsake us; that He has given us authority over the enemy and no weapon formed against us will prosper; that by His stripes we are healed.

Psalms 46:1. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.

Psalms 9:10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Psalms 56:3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.

This is a time when our faith can become stronger and more genuine as we believe God in times of trouble. We can move into this place of silence, remember and believe His Word. This time of silence is for spiritual regeneration and not to be filled up with our own thoughts. We have to indeed quiet our souls and take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

1 Peter 1:
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

The more time we spend in God’s presence and in His Word, the better we know Him. This time of silence is for exactly that, that we may know Him more intimately.

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

Who is He?

Jehovah Jireh is found in Genesis 22:14 -- "The Lord Provides.”
Jehovah-Rophe found in Exodus 15:26 -- "The Lord who Heals"
Jehovah-Nissi found in Exodus 17:15 -- "God, my Banner or God my Standard of Victory"
Jehovah-M'Kaddesh in Lev 20:8 -- "I am the Lord Who makes you Holy." Or "Who sets you apart for My Use."
Jehovah-Shalom found in Judges 6:24 -- "God is Peace!"
Jehovah-Tsidkenu found in Jeremiah 23 -- the Lord our righteousness.
Jehovah-Shammah Ezek 48:35. -- The Eternal God who is here.
Jehovah-Rohi in the 23rd Psalm -- The Eternal God is my shepherd. He is our guide. He leads us. He feeds us. He comforts us.

Psalm 23:
1 The LORD is my shepherd [Jehovah-Rohi]; I shall not want. [Jehovah-Jireh--our provider!]
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters [Jehovah-Shalom-our peace!].
3 He restores my soul [Jehovah-Rophe--our Healer!]: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake [Jehovah-Tsidkenu--our righteousness!].
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for You are with me [Jehovah-Shammah--He is There!]; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies [Jehovah-Nissi--our Standard of Victory]: You anoint my head with oil [Jehovah-M'Kaddesh--our Holiness; our sanctification]; my cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Who are we?

John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people."

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

Acts 17:28 "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
