PARABLE OF THE EAGLE

by Shelly Mathis

A word to the prophets who have been silenced.

In a vision, I saw large hands forming a lump of clay. Gently the fingers pressed, squeezed, and molded until the lump took on the shape of an eagle. Every feature was perfectly detailed, except it had no life of its own. I soon saw a vapor of light come forth from the Potter. The eagle absorbed this light and came to life. It breathed, saw, heard, sang, and flew. It simply became what the Potter had designed it to be.

After a time, I saw a dark mist subtly begin to envelop the eagle. Without paying attention, it breathed in this mist and absorbed its darkness. It began to look like clay again. Suddenly I saw that its ears were gone. The eyes also disappeared as if smudged away by an invisible finger. Next, the wings became fixed as if pinned to its side, and the beak was sealed shut. The life slowly ebbed away from this marred creation.

And I heard the Spirit say to the prophets, “Just as I created the eagle to fly, to see, to hear, and to sing My praises – so have I created you to be My vessels of prophetic expression. I inhabit you and give you life; I empower you to fulfill your purpose and destiny in My Kingdom. The enemy's counterattack has been to undermine the simplicity of our relationship with his lies and darkness. Embracing the lies has caused your spiritual life to ebb away, and that which I have equipped you with is now marred. Take heart, for I am the Potter! The time of your reformation is at hand! Your part is to abandon the lies and dispel the darkness with My truth; My part will be to reform and renew your spiritual equipment as you rise up from the flesh into the spirit. Do not hesitate. Remember who you are in Me and take wing upon the wind of My Spirit.”

Jeremiah 18:1-6
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
